IMPORTANT DATES:
Friday, August 27 – Early release at 11:45
UPCOMING TESTS:
Monday – Math (patterns)
Friday - Weekly spelling test, weekly phonogram test
HOMEWORK FOR NEXT WEEK:
Monday – Write spelling words 5 times each
Tuesday - Complete spelling word sentence worksheet
Wednesday & Thursday – Language Arts and math worksheet
Friday – If all students turn in their homework, there will be no weekend homework; otherwise, Language Arts worksheet and Math worksheet
Note – Homework is due by 8:30 each morning. If your child does not turn in their homework, they will not have recess that day (they will complete homework during this time). If they do not turn in homework a second time during the week, they will not participate in Fun Friday. If they do not turn in homework a third time, I will call the parent to inform them of their child not turning in homework. One of the most important things I try to teach the children in 1st grade is responsibility. They will have homework on a regular basis throughout their education. Please help ensure your child does their and turns it in on time. For absences, please refer to the school handbook.
FYI:
Dress code will be strictly enforced this year. Students must wear either a school logo shirt or a red, white, or blue Polo shirt (shirt with a collar). Navy blue or Khaki (brown) slacks, shorts, skirts, or jumpers are also required. Students cannot wear jeans or bike shorts. Any student violating the dress code will be sent to the office and parents will be notified.
Parents/guardians/relatives that volunteer in the classroom or go on field trips must have a Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card. This is a requirement statewide to ensure your child’s safety.
Progress Folders start going home today. Please sign the behavior form and return the folder by next Friday. You may keep all of the work that is in the folder.
I would like to thank all of the parents who attended “Meet the Teacher” night. I hope to have a great year (as I have great students). Look for the weekly newsletter in the Progress Folder each week.
REMINDER
SUCCESS BEGINS WITH ATTENDANCE
Sincerely,
Beth Hernandez
